Springtime can feel busy and exciting after months of winter’s sleepy stillness. Temperatures are warmer, flowers are blooming, and baby animals start to roam, but some springtime energy can feel too intense for some. Thunderstorms and severe weather tend to pick up in the spring, and everyone has their own ways of dealing with the storms.

While fashionista @libmalcolmlooks was cooped up inside her cozy home during an April 1 thunderstorm, she noticed a furry friend outside who had a similar idea. A baby fox was taking refuge on her porch, and he wasn’t afraid to get comfortable in the process.

At least someone can enjoy the patio furniture during wet weather!

WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW:

This is too sweet! The little red fox looks content and comfy while curled up on the patio chair, as if it’s his favorite spot to watch the storm go by. As much as it tugged on my heartstrings to see the animal startled from the thunder and lightning, it’s such a relief to see that the fox found somewhere safe to stay.

“I’m glad he had a soft, dry place to hang out during the storm,” one commenter agreed. “Even though he may have been scared, at least he wasn’t scared, cold, and wet.” As far as wild animals are concerned, this lucky fox hit the jackpot!

Naturally, plenty of people (including the video’s poster) admitted to feeling sympathy for the little fox. Everyone would be tempted to let him inside! Even though this fox is most likely a yearling who’s learning to navigate the world on his own, it’s never a good idea to take a wild animal away from the wild.

Instead, providing safe, sheltered spaces like this is a great way to help local wildlife. You can also leave out fresh water for animals, but remember to change it regularly!

Keep in mind that it’s more common to see wild animals in residential areas during severe weather and threats like wildfires. They’re simply looking for shelter, just like you would! A little kindness and space are all they need to get somewhere safe, but if you’re lucky, they may seek shelter at your home!

  1. Nice to see this little fox has a safe and dry place to wait out the storm.
I agree – leave water out for ALL wildlife, especially in the winter.
And always admire them from afar 💖
