In a touching story that’s warming hearts around the globe, Hunter Metzger from Pennsylvania decided to give his adorable Great Dane, Iris, the “best last day ever,” complete with a mouthwatering steak dinner from Texas Roadhouse.

Iris, an eight-and-a-half-year-old pup, had been bravely battling a severe health condition and was no longer responding well to treatment. Wanting to spoil her one last time, Metzger ordered Iris an extra-special meal: an 8-ounce New York strip steak, steak fries, mashed potatoes, and freshly baked bread.

When placing the order, Metzger included a heartfelt note to the restaurant staff: “Last meal for our dog. Prepare w/ love.” The response he received from Texas Roadhouse was beyond anything he expected!

Kate Weston, the kind-hearted employee who received the note, sprang into action, determined to give Iris the “best steak ever.” Weston, who is a devoted animal lover, said, “In that moment, nothing mattered but getting Iris her last meal.”

Not only did the team at Texas Roadhouse prepare Iris’s meal with extra love, but they also included a sweet note on the container that read, “Made with love.” To Metzger’s amazement, they offered the entire meal free of charge!

“When I picked up the order, a few of the ladies immediately came up, offered condolences, and said, ‘We saw your note. Tears in all of our eyes. We definitely prepared it with love,'” Metzger recounted.

He shared this moving gesture in a local Facebook group, where hundreds expressed their admiration for the compassion shown by the restaurant’s staff. Metzger added photos of Iris delightfully enjoying her delicious feast in the yard, capturing her final moments of happiness.

The story has since touched hearts internationally, receiving warm messages of support and love from animal lovers worldwide.

“We needed that bright spot in this tough time,” Metzger shared, highlighting the wonderful bond between people, pets, and a community coming together to celebrate the love for animals.
