Meet Ronan! This California Sea Lion has been entertaining tourists, scientists, and social media viewers for over a decade with her love for music and head bobbing skills, but a team of researchers from UC Santa Cruz was stunned to find just how precisely she can keep a beat.

This sea lion really can keep a beat better than some humans! Anyone who’s seen the California Sea Lions in Santa Cruz or San Francisco knows just how noisy they can be, but ‘musical’ isn’t exactly the first word that comes to mind when anyone thinks of these animals.

Clearly, Ronan is ready to prove everyone wrong. Time and time again, this sea lion displays impressive rhythmic skills, even when the speed of the rhythm changes.
