A golden retriever from Charlotte, North Carolina, has gone viral for his not-so-subtle attempt to score a bite of his owner’s bagel—and honestly, same.
In a TikTok video posted by @thefinnstagram, 2-year-old Finn the golden retriever can be seen creeping up on his owner as she tries to enjoy a cheese bagel on the couch. With slow determination and serious puppy eyes, Finn moves in close—real close—until his nose is practically touching the bagel.

“Trying to eat my bagel in peace but my golden retriever wants to make sure I know he’d be willing to share it,” reads the on-screen text. The caption adds even more charm: “Finn said if you’re too hungover to finish that I can handle it.”
Bridget Foos, Finn’s owner, told Newsweek that her lovable golden is “the silliest and sweetest dog ever,” and that he’s known in the family for his quirky personality. “He truly believes all of my best friends are his girlfriends,” she said. “And he gets so excited when he sees them.”
Foos explained that while Finn didn’t get a bite of the bagel (sorry, bud), he was rewarded with a milk bone—and when the post blew past a million views, she surprised him with a celebratory cheeseburger from McDonald’s, his favorite treat.
“Like most goldens, he is always hungry,” she said. “I figured some people would think it was funny, but had no idea the traction it would pick up.”
As of now, the video has racked up over 2.3 million views and 430,000 likes on TikTok, with viewers flooding the comments to relate to Finn’s bagel-sized hopes and dreams.
One user joked, “No eye contact because he wants it to be your idea!”
Another added, “My dog has started licking the air near my food, in case. I don’t really know, flavored air goes in his mouth.”
And one particularly mischievous pup owner wrote, “My dog will intentionally sneeze on it because she knows we put it down after.”
While this bagel story had a happy ending (milk bone now, cheeseburger later), it’s a good reminder that not all human food is safe for dogs. Common household snacks like chocolate, grapes, onions, and even certain nuts can be toxic to pets—and some can be fatal. If your dog eats something questionable, call your vet or the pet poison hotline immediately.
For now, Finn is living his best life—viral fame, treats, and a cheeseburger victory lap. And Bridget? She’s just grateful for the unconditional love (and comic relief). “He’s my very best friend,” she said. “I really hope he helped brighten someone else’s day as much as he always brightens mine.”
