When Lisa de Gunst first became a cat mom, she never imagined her cozy feline family would one day include a dog. But as it turns out, there was nothing to worry about—because her two cats and new dachshund puppy have become the sweetest trio ever.
Lisa, who lives in the Netherlands, welcomed her first cat, a ragdoll named Belle, back in 2020. Feeling that Belle might be lonely, she later adopted a British shorthair named Alphie, and the two quickly became inseparable. Still, Lisa couldn’t shake the feeling that her home was missing something.
“My dream had always been to have a dog,” she explained. “I just never really had the time for it before. So, I decided to go for it and hoped he’d get along with the cats.”
Earlier this year, Lisa brought home James, a 4-month-old dachshund—and braced herself for chaos. But to her surprise, the introduction went better than she could have imagined.
“The cats were really curious about him, and it felt as if he already belonged here,” she said. “They often play together and sleep next to each other. When the cats want to come inside, James even runs to the door to let me know.”
From that moment, James, Belle, and Alphie became inseparable. Whether they’re napping in a pile, chasing each other around the house, or trading gentle kisses, they do everything together.

Lisa often finds herself melting at the sight of the trio and loves capturing their sweetest moments on camera. Her TikTok videos (@lisadegunst) showing their adorable friendship have captured the hearts of pet lovers everywhere.
The viral clips prove that cats and dogs don’t have to be enemies—they can be the best of friends. “I’m really happy they get along so well,” Lisa said. “It truly feels like a home full of love.”
She hopes their story inspires others to see that different animals can live in harmony—and that every pet deserves a loving home. “My biggest dream would be to give every animal a loving home like this trio already has,” she shared.
