They say “two is better than one,” and apparently, that goes for animals too! Many animals thrive in social settings, and it turns out friendships aren’t limited to just their own species. At Florida’s Brevard Zoo, one zookeeper captured an incredibly heartwarming moment that proves animals really do have feelings—and can comfort each other too.
The moment shows Peach, a fallow deer, nuzzling up to her turkey friend, Pillsbury, who had been shaking. The gentle deer’s affection seemed to calm the turkey instantly, creating a sweet snapshot of interspecies friendship that’s hard not to smile at.

Peach looked completely relaxed as she snuggled close, and even Pillsbury seemed to settle down, hugging his deer buddy back. It’s clear these two animals needed each other in that moment—and it’s absolutely precious to watch.
Fans watching the viral clip couldn’t get enough. One commenter, @apandak, said, “I simply will not hear anyone ever saying animals don’t experience emotion or don’t have feelings. I will not hear it.” Another, @decendiary, added, “Interspecies friendship is in my top 5 favorite things to witness on this earth. It’s so painfully cute.”
Even the zookeeper witnessing it in person couldn’t contain her joy. Moments like this are exactly why working with animals can be so magical!
Some viewers wondered if Peach was helping Pillsbury through an anxiety attack. Brevard Zoo clarified the adorable truth: the turkey’s shaking was actually a sign of happiness and contentment. So instead of calming a nervous friend, Peach and Pillsbury were simply sharing a joyful, affectionate moment—and it’s honestly the sweetest thing.
From this moment forward, it’s safe to say Peach and Pillsbury are inseparable best friends—and we’re just grateful to witness their adorable bond.
