Two sisters who desperately wanted a kitten came up with a hilariously sneaky plan to bring one home without getting in trouble.
Their parents had made it clear that they did not want a kitten in the house. But TikTok user @coookkiieee2 and her sister were not ready to give up on the idea of a new furry family member.
So they decided to make it look like fate had stepped in.
Instead of admitting they had chosen to bring home a kitten, the sisters staged a dramatic roadside “rescue” to convince their parents the tiny cat had simply appeared on the side of the road.
In other words, they wanted the family to believe the internet-famous “cat distribution system” had picked them.
In a TikTok video shared on June 1, one sister can be seen filming from inside the car while the other steps out and slowly approaches the kitten. She bends down carefully, acting as if she has just discovered the little animal for the first time.
Then she scoops the kitten into her arms.
To really sell the performance, one sister gasps from inside the car while the other looks shocked, as if they cannot believe they just found a stray kitten in need of help.
The plan worked.

Nearly two years after the staged rescue, one of the sisters shared the old footage online, revealing in the caption that they had successfully fooled their family.
The clip quickly went viral, racking up more than 9 million views on TikTok.
The best part comes at the end of the video, where viewers get to see the same kitten almost two years later. She is stretched out asleep on the couch, looking completely relaxed and clearly unbothered by the elaborate scheme that brought her home.
In the comments, one of the sisters admitted that the family believed the roadside rescue story for about a year before finally learning the truth.
Viewers could not get enough of the sisters’ commitment to the bit, especially since the kitten clearly ended up exactly where she belonged.
Sometimes families choose pets. Sometimes pets choose families. And sometimes two determined sisters create an Oscar-worthy rescue scene to make sure a kitten gets the couch she was always meant to nap on.
