Maple may be a social butterfly, but her approach to making new friends could use a little work.
The 1½-year-old pup is a mix of Golden Shepherd, Great Pyrenees and Pit Bull, though her family lovingly calls her a mutt. They say she loves meeting other dogs, even if she can be hilariously awkward about it.
During a recent trip to the dog park, Maple spotted a black dog relaxing on the ground and immediately decided they should become best friends.
Rather than simply walking over, Maple dropped to the ground and began wiggling and army-crawling toward the other pup.
She slowly inched closer, twisting her body and doing everything possible to show that she was friendly and meant no harm.
Maple’s mom summed up what the eager pup was probably thinking in the caption.

“I think we’re best friends! Right?!”
Viewers could not stop laughing at Maple’s painfully adorable introduction.
One commenter described her as “desperately not aggressive.”
Another joked, “When I say, ‘I’ve got that dog in me,’ this is the dog I’m referring to.”
A third comment earned nearly 20,000 likes.
“My trainer said of my dog, ‘I mean… he’s a weirdo, but he likes other dogs,’” the viewer wrote.
Even Nat Geo Animals joined in, adding, “She’s trying her best and that’s what counts.”
Maple’s technique may not have been smooth, but there was no mistaking her goal. She had found a potential new friend and was willing to wiggle, crawl and completely embarrass herself to win the other dog over.
