Getting older can make some everyday things a little harder, but one senior Labrador Retriever is absolutely refusing to let age slow him down.
Linda Marie recently shared a hilarious video of her older Lab trying to get onto the couch, and instead of using the pet stairs placed right beside him, the stubborn pup decided to do things the hard way.
Jumping onto the couch may have been effortless when he was younger, but these days it takes a little more preparation.
Linda had already thought ahead and bought a set of pet stairs to help him climb up safely. She placed them right next to the couch, hoping he would take advantage of the easier route.
He had other plans.
Rather than calmly walking up the steps, the determined Lab backed himself up, appeared to gather his confidence and then launched his whole body toward the couch like he was competing in an Olympic high-jump event.
The moment is both hilarious and adorable because you can practically see him psyching himself up before making the leap.

It almost feels like he’s telling himself, “I can do this.”
And somehow, despite his age and a few extra pounds, he still manages to pull it off.
Linda summed up her stubborn senior perfectly in the caption.
“He’s old, he’s chubby, yet he won’t use the steps. He’s a champion high jumper.”
The pet stairs may be sitting there untouched, but this determined Labrador clearly isn’t ready to admit he needs them just yet.
For now, he’s still taking the dramatic route onto the couch — and proving that a little age hasn’t taken away his confidence.
