Some dogs love chasing balls. Others love naps. But Pearl the Golden Retriever has apparently discovered a new favorite hobby — watching the Minions on her iPad.
In an adorable video, Pearl is curled up in a pair of pajamas while completely locked in on the lovable yellow characters from the Despicable Me movies.
Whether she was just waking up or settling in for bedtime isn’t clear, but Pearl looked perfectly content enjoying a little screen time.
Her eyes stayed glued to the tablet as the Minions moved around on screen, making the Golden Retriever look more like a kid watching her favorite cartoon than a family pet.
Pearl’s owner couldn’t help but laugh at the pup’s new obsession.
“Is she an iPad kid now? LOL! My baby girl loves the Minions,” she joked in the caption.

Viewers were just as entertained by Pearl’s outfit as they were by her intense focus on the movie.
“Watching Minions while wearing duckies jammies is next level coolness!” one commenter wrote.
Others had a theory about why Pearl might be so fascinated by the famous yellow characters.
One viewer pointed out that dogs can see certain colors better than others, writing, “I’ve heard dogs can see yellow and blue well, so maybe that’s part of it! Adorable!”
Pearl’s owner agreed.
“You’re so right! I forgot about that,” she replied. “I think between the colors and the sweet minion noises, she’s in love!”
There may actually be some science behind Pearl’s obsession.
According to the American Kennel Club, dogs can see shades of blue and yellow, while colors such as red and green appear much less distinct to them.
Some dogs are also drawn to televisions, tablets and other screens because of the movement and sounds coming from them.
Dogs process visual information differently than humans and can notice rapid movement particularly well, meaning the fast-paced action of a cartoon may be enough to keep certain pups entertained.
Breed can also influence whether a dog cares about what is happening on a screen.
The American Kennel Club notes that breeds originally developed to chase or hunt moving animals may be especially interested in action and squeaky noises on television.
Dogs that rely more heavily on their sense of smell, however, may be less impressed by a screen that offers plenty to see but absolutely nothing to sniff.
As for Pearl, nobody can say for sure whether she loves the Minions because of their bright yellow appearance, their strange little voices or all the chaos happening on screen.
But judging by her expression, she has definitely found her favorite show.
And dressed in her pajamas with an iPad in front of her, Pearl appears to have mastered the art of cozy screen time better than most humans.
