A farm dog and his cow best friend are proving that friendship really can cross species.
In a sweet video shared on Instagram, the unlikely pair can be seen roughhousing together in a field like two puppies who have known each other forever.
The dog and cow take turns nudging, nipping and bumping heads, but everything appears playful from start to finish.
At some points, they look so comfortable together that it is easy to forget they are completely different animals.
Cows are often jokingly called “grass puppies,” and this duo makes it easy to see why.
Their playful energy, curiosity and obvious affection for each other make the interaction look more like two dogs wrestling in the yard than a cow and a farm dog spending time together.
