One Golden Retriever thought he was simply going for a car ride — but his family had a huge surprise waiting for him.
Teddy, a one-year-old Golden Retriever, recently tagged along with his owners for a drive that ended with him meeting the newest member of the family: an adorable Golden Retriever puppy named Tucker.
The heartwarming introduction was shared on TikTok by @teddy.thegoldenboyy, where viewers watched Teddy go from clueless passenger to proud big brother in a matter of moments.
At the beginning of the clip, Teddy is calmly sitting in the back seat, apparently unaware that the trip is about to change his life.
Then Tucker appears.

Before long, the two Goldens are riding together in the back seat as if the arrangement had been planned by Teddy himself.
And these two are not just brothers in the way pet parents often use the word.
Their family says Teddy and Tucker are actually biologically related.
Tucker is technically Teddy’s first cousin because one of Teddy’s parents is a sibling of one of Tucker’s parents.
Their owners decided to return to the same breeder after realizing they did not want to wait much longer before giving Teddy a permanent canine companion.
Their reasoning was incredibly sweet.
“I’d rather they be super close and grow old together,” their owner explained in the video.
Judging by their first day together, that plan appears to be off to a very good start.
The video shows Teddy and Tucker wrestling, chasing each other and eventually settling down for some cuddles.
There did not appear to be much of an awkward adjustment period.
Instead, Teddy seemed to accept his tiny new sidekick almost immediately.
For anyone who has ever brought a second dog home, that kind of instant connection is about as good as it gets.
Introducing a puppy to an established dog can sometimes take time, especially while both dogs work out boundaries, routines and how much playtime is too much playtime.
But Teddy and Tucker already seem determined to make up for lost time.
And while it is tempting to imagine Teddy immediately realizing, “Hey, this little guy is family,” dogs do not appear to understand biological relationships in quite the same way humans do.
What dogs absolutely can do is gather an extraordinary amount of information through smell.
Research has found evidence that dogs can recognize familiar relatives, especially mothers and offspring that previously spent time together, using scent.
That does not necessarily mean Teddy recognized Tucker as his cousin when they met for the first time.
Still, their shared genetics make the story even cuter.
More importantly, the pair seem to have hit it off based on the thing that matters most to dogs: whether the new guy is willing to play.
The original video has been attracting attention online as viewers fall in love with Teddy’s surprise introduction to his new family member.
Now Teddy gets something even better than another trip in the car.
He gets a best friend who will be growing up right beside him.
