Trips to the vet can be stressful for even the sweetest dogs.
Some pups happily march through the doors looking for treats and attention, while others would rather be anywhere else. Between unfamiliar smells, strange rooms and memories of past shots or procedures, it’s easy to understand why a vet visit can feel overwhelming.
For one Golden Retriever named Vader, comfort came from a very unexpected source.
While waiting for X-rays, Vader spotted a ghost-shaped decorative pillow in the waiting room and decided it was exactly what he needed.
From that moment on, the pillow became his emotional support buddy.
Vader carried the cushion through the hallways and exam rooms, keeping it firmly in his mouth as he made his way through the visit.

The sight of the nervous Golden Retriever proudly carrying around a little ghost pillow was enough to melt hearts online.
“Baby needed comfort so he took a friend,” one viewer wrote.
Another simply said, “Whatever it takes to make you feel better.”
One pet parent shared a touching memory of their own German Shepherd, who carried around a deer plush toy for years.
The moment was funny, but also incredibly relatable for anyone who has ever had a nervous pet.
Dogs often look for familiar textures, toys or objects when they’re stressed, and Vader clearly decided that this pillow made the whole situation a little easier.
It’s unclear whether he eventually returned his new friend before leaving the clinic, but one thing is obvious: that ghost pillow helped turn a scary vet visit into something much more manageable.
Later videos show Vader looking happy and relaxed, so it seems his little comfort companion did exactly what he needed it to do.
