Life can be complicated when you’re an elephant, but reaching the best snacks apparently just requires a little creativity.
Wamata, a young rescue elephant at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, has figured out a pretty clever way to get closer to the freshest greenery.
Instead of settling for whatever is within easy reach, the determined little elephant climbs onto a bench and stretches herself toward a fenced-off patch of leaves.
It quickly turns into an adorable display of balance, determination, and snack-focused problem-solving.
Wamata manages to get her back legs onto the bench while leaning forward over the barrier, all without completely losing her balance.
She doesn’t quite make it all the way over, but that doesn’t stop her from reaching the greenery she had her eye on.
Nearby, little Zuri watches the whole thing unfold.
The younger elephant seems fascinated as Wamata works out how to get exactly what she wants.

For Wamata, the moment is especially sweet considering how far she has come.
The three-year-old rescue had a difficult start in life and needed time to rebuild her confidence after arriving in the care of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
Now, she seems anything but shy.
Wamata has developed a big personality and often appears eager to explore, play, and lead the younger elephants around her.
Her latest snack mission certainly shows that confidence.
Balancing on her back legs while eating and keeping herself steady against the barrier is no small feat for such a large animal.
And somehow, Wamata makes the whole thing look almost graceful.
Almost.
There’s something especially funny about watching an elephant use so much determination for something as simple as a few extra leaves.
But when the greenery looks that good, apparently it’s worth putting on an entire gymnastics routine.
For Zuri, it may have also been a lesson in an important elephant skill: never give up when there’s a good snack involved.
