There’s nothing quite like a mama’s boy, and one adorable baby elephant at the Dallas Zoo is proving that no matter how big you are, there’s no place better than right beside Mom!
In a precious TikTok video, a baby elephant named Matope steals hearts with his determination to stay as close as possible to his mother, Mlilo. While she’s busy enjoying a snack, her little shadow stands practically glued to her side, seemingly without a care in the world.
And when we say this baby doesn’t want to leave his mama, we mean it! Whether Mlilo is munching on hay or stopping for a drink, Matope makes sure he’s right there to supervise every move.
The zoo visitor who captured the sweet moment couldn’t help but point out the little elephant’s adorable attachment to his mother.
“Whether she’s eating or drinking, he is right beside her,” the visitor explained, joking that Matope was even covered in water from standing so close while his mom drank.
Talk about taking clingy to a whole new level!

But there’s something especially heartwarming about watching this little guy stand so proudly beside Mlilo, perfectly content to let Mom handle the important business of eating while he enjoys being close to her.
Matope may grow into a towering elephant someday, but for now, he’s just a sweet baby who wants nothing more than to be wherever his mama is. And honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way!
