Nobody likes being told they’ve gained a few extra pounds, especially when their favorite activities involve snacks, treats and begging for whatever their humans are eating. But one adorable Golden Retriever named Moose has an entire internet community rushing to defend him after a rather disappointing trip to the veterinarian.

In a hilarious TikTok shared by @moosethegolden_, Moose’s dad is seen comforting his furry best friend after the vet apparently suggested the lovable pup could stand to lose a little weight.

And judging by the sweet interaction, Dad isn’t about to let a few extra pounds get in the way of making Moose feel like the most handsome boy in the world.

The video quickly melted hearts, with viewers joking that Moose had been personally offended by the veterinarian’s assessment. After all, how could anyone look at that precious Golden Retriever face and suggest there’s anything wrong with him?

The comments soon turned into an unofficial Moose fan club, with supporters lining up to defend their favorite fluffy patient.

“I don’t know that vet, but I know they’re 100% projecting. You’re perfect buddy,” one viewer declared.

Another fan was ready to dispute the diagnosis entirely, pointing to Moose’s handsome features as evidence.

“Look at his jawline, idk what the vet was on abt,” the commenter joked.

Of course, Moose probably has no idea what all the fuss is about. Dogs don’t understand conversations about body weight the way people do, but they certainly recognize a loving voice and a little extra affection from their favorite humans.

And while maintaining a healthy weight is important for keeping Golden Retrievers active and comfortable, there’s nothing wrong with offering some extra cuddles after a stressful vet visit.

As for Moose, he’s already won the internet’s sympathy. The veterinarian may have suggested watching his waistline, but according to his adoring fans, this handsome boy deserves all the love in the world.

And perhaps a healthy treat or two, provided the vet approves!
