As difficult as it is to say goodbye when you’re going on vacation, even for just a few days, it can be even more heartbreaking when a dog realizes you are leaving them. Just ask Caitlyn! This doting Golden Retriever mom loves her girls more than anything else, but not even love can soften the blow of time spent apart.
On March 24, Caitlyn told Parker, her older Golden, that she was staying with a friend named Carol while her human family members went on a trip. The dog mom knew it would be a difficult conversation, but she never expected her dog to be this dramatic!

LOL! The conversation began innocently enough, but it didn’t take long before Parker’s sweet face began to show exactly what she was thinking. Golden Retrievers are known for being dramatic or wearing their hearts on their sleeve, depending on how you look at it, and she is no exception.
“As soon as Parker heard, ‘Carol,’ she was like ‘Nah,’” one commenter explained. I couldn’t have said it better myself! I’m sure it’s nothing personal against Carol, but dogs like Parker would rather be wherever their parents are.
Alternatively, Carol could be the go-to dog sitter when Caitlyn goes out of town. Parker could associate her with being away from Mom! Dogs pick up on a lot more than we realize, which is why they always know when we’re leaving before we even tell them.
In the end, Parker and her Golden puppy sister, Pinot, are going to be just fine while their mom is away. In fact, it sounds like they’ll have the time of their lives playing with their friends the whole time. That’s every pup’s—and every pup parent’s—dream come true!
