A Florida-raised Bernedoodle is experiencing the magic of snow for the first time in over a year—and her excitement is contagious. The playful pup wasted no time rushing outside to frolic in the winter wonderland, her fluffy coat keeping her perfectly warm.

The TikTok video, shared by her mom, included the caption: “POV: Your Florida-raised Bernedoodle sees snow again for the first time in over a year and has the best day ever playing outside.” Her dog mom added a funny twist: “Anyone who knows me knows I hate the cold, but this had me thinking we should move somewhere more snowy so that she can do this every winter.” Clearly, this pup is living her best snowy life.

Viewers couldn’t get enough of the adorable footage. One user, @KiKi, wrote, “Aww, so happy and cute. Dogs and snow are a match made in heaven.” Her owner agreed, saying, “Yes!! She was so happy.” Other fans chimed in with their own dog snow stories, like @Laekyn: “I live in Michigan, and my Berner refuses to come inside now that there is a slight dusting of snow on the ground.”

So why do some dogs love snow so much? While not every dog enjoys the cold—tiny breeds like Chihuahuas are notorious for hating snow—many pups live for winter weather. Animal behaviorist Patricia McConnell explains to Scientific American that predators, like dogs, often enjoy change, while prey animals tend to avoid it. A fresh blanket of snow offers a new landscape to explore, sniff, and mark.

Evolutionary biologist Gordon Burghardt adds that dogs may also love the “sensory qualities of snow,” from its texture to its scent. And dog expert John Bradshaw points out the social factor: many dogs get extra joy from playing in the snow with their humans, like chasing snowballs or running around together.

Whatever the reason, one thing is clear: this Bernedoodle is hooked. After a year away from snowy fun, she’s officially ready for more frosty adventures.
