A golden retriever has melted hearts online after stealing one of his mom’s most treasured possessions—and taking it straight to bed.
The video, shared on TikTok Wednesday by @lifewithduke2025, shows Duke, a senior golden retriever, wagging his tail proudly as he carries a picture frame in his mouth across the room. Once on the bed, Duke carefully rests his head against the frame, refusing to let it go.
The mom can be heard saying, “Oh, Dukie honey, you can’t have that!” She explains that the framed item is a passage from The Velveteen Rabbit, which she had temporarily placed in her office while deciding where to hang it.
“I put it there while I was trying to decide where to put it, and I guess he’s telling us where to put it,” she says in the clip. The caption confirms that she eventually placed it near Duke’s bed in the bedroom.

Dogs often “steal” items from their homes because the behavior gets attention. Experts say this is a normal way for pups to interact with their owners. British charity Dog Trust recommends ignoring the behavior as long as it’s safe and redirecting your dog’s attention to toys or treats. Rewarding good behavior and teaching them to exchange stolen items can help curb the habit.
The video quickly went viral, racking up more than 5.5 million views and over 652,400 likes on TikTok. Fans flooded the comments with laughs and admiration. One user joked, “God forbid Dukie wants to decorate his space lol.” Another wrote, “Don’t take him near the Louvre.” A third simply said, “It’s my precious. It’s precious to me.”
The TikTok account did not respond to requests for comment, but the clip has sparked smiles across the internet, proving once again that dogs have a special way of stealing our hearts—sometimes literally.
