Photographer and horse enthusiast @samslay recently pulled off a hilarious prank on her herd, donning a giant, bright orange inflatable horse costume and wandering into the pasture. At first, the horses barely flinch—but once Sam amps up the antics, all chaos breaks loose!

The clip kicks off with Sam gently swaying and spinning while the horses continue grazing, completely unfazed. But the moment she starts stomping and marching toward them, the herd scatters in every direction.

In her caption, Sam laughed, “The horses were TERRIFIED of Pokey LOL!” And honestly, we’d be scared too—after all, it’s not every day a giant orange “horse” starts moving toward you!

The video had viewers in stitches, racking up thousands of comments. @Hallie Musslewhite joked, “‘Here we go’ LOL!” while @Mortys House said, “He couldn’t even eat his hay in peace. He knew something was imminent to happen.” Other commenters imagined the horses’ reactions: “Gahd*mn! She onnat bs again, y’all!” and “They’re all tired of her!”

Curious minds wondered if the horses were actually bothered by the bright color. According to Iowa State University, horses see differently than humans—they can detect motion well but perceive colors in a narrower spectrum. They see blue and yellow tones, but reds like Sam’s inflatable orange aren’t as vivid to them.

So it turns out, the herd wasn’t fleeing because the faux horse was orange—they were running from Sam’s wild, over-the-top “Pokey” persona!
