Is there anything better than surprising your kids with a puppy? For most parents, the excitement of the big reveal is just as fun as the gift itself. You picture screams of joy, instant cuddles, and a magical family moment.
That’s exactly what one family thought they were getting — until their kids’ reactions went in two completely opposite directions.
The Nixon family decided to surprise their children with a Doodle after school, setting up the kind of moment parents dream about. Their new puppy, Oscar, was more than ready to meet his forever family, tail wagging and excitement through the roof.
Then the front door opened.

Their son walked in first — and immediately screamed at the top of his lungs.
“Ahhh!”
Seconds later, his sister followed… and burst into tears the moment she saw the dog. Were they happy tears? Scared tears? Even their parents weren’t totally sure at first. The reactions were so intense and so different that the moment instantly became internet gold.
Despite the initial shock, it didn’t take long for things to turn sweet. Both kids quickly warmed up to Oscar and were clearly thrilled to meet their new best friend. The emotional whiplash just made the moment even more hilarious.
“Meeting the family. All the emotions,” the parents joked in the caption — and the internet agreed that was an understatement.
