If you’ve ever teed off in Florida, you probably know that spotting an alligator isn’t exactly rare. But what one golfer just witnessed? That’s a whole different level.

Rachel Hanson was out enjoying a normal round when she suddenly spotted something crossing the cart path ahead—and it was massive.

In the now-viral clip, the alligator casually strolls across the course like it owns the place, completely unbothered. But using the nearby palm trees and cart path for scale, it quickly becomes clear this isn’t your average gator.

This thing looks prehistoric.

Rachel summed it up perfectly in her caption: “I almost shat my pants because why is this a literal dinosaur gator?!” And honestly… same. From a distance it already looked big, but the closer it got, the more unbelievable its size became.

The internet wasted no time reacting.

The video exploded online, racking up over 10 million views, more than a million likes, and thousands of comments. One user joked, “Bro, that’s a dinosaur,” while another asked the question everyone was thinking: “Why you golfing at Jurassic Park?”

Others chimed in with jokes about dinosaurs not being real—until now.

People kept replaying the clip, trying to figure out just how big this monster actually was. And based on comparisons to the trees and path, many are convinced it’s one of the largest alligators they’ve ever seen on a golf course.

According to Golf Digest, male alligators can grow up to 15 feet long and weigh close to 1,000 pounds—and this one looks like it might be pushing both limits. Even seasoned golf observers admitted they were stunned by its size.

As wild as the moment looks, encounters like this are a reminder that golfers in Florida are sharing the course with some very real wildlife.

Experts say if you ever run into a gator, keep your distance—at least 30 to 60 feet—and never try to feed or approach it. Not only is that dangerous, it’s also illegal.

And one more thing: keep your eyes open, especially around dusk and dawn.

Because out there… you never know when a “dinosaur” might wander onto your fairway.
