Every dog owner knows the look.
The second you discover something destroyed in the house and turn around to face your pup, they suddenly avoid eye contact, freeze in place, or start acting suspiciously innocent.
That’s exactly what happened when a woman named Leanne discovered one of her shoes completely shredded — with her two dogs, a Golden Retriever named Chester and a tiny Morkie named Skye, standing nearby looking extremely suspicious.
The hilarious viral video starts with Leanne calmly asking the obvious question: “Who tore up the shoe?”
Not surprisingly, neither dog volunteers a confession.
But honestly? Their faces say absolutely everything.
While Chester awkwardly stands there trying to look innocent, little Skye slowly begins backing away up the stairs in what viewers described as one of the funniest guilty-dog moments ever caught on camera.
The internet immediately lost it.

“Nothing better than guilty dog videos lol!” one commenter wrote.
Another viral comment with tens of thousands of likes read: “Dogs are so freaking funny, they understand us 1000%!”
But it was Skye’s dramatic slow-motion escape attempt that completely stole the show.
One viewer joked that the tiny dog looked like she was thinking: “If I move very slowly, she won’t see me…”
Another commenter added: “How the little one creeped away in slow motion was hilarious!!”
The clip quickly exploded online as dog owners everywhere recognized the classic “I definitely did something bad” expression.
But here’s the funny part — experts say dogs may not actually feel guilt the way humans think they do.
According to researchers cited by Vet Street, what owners interpret as a “guilty face” is often just a dog reacting to their human sounding upset or angry.
Studies conducted by animal behavior experts Alexandra Horowitz and Julie Hecht found dogs tend to display so-called guilty behaviors whether they actually did something wrong or not.
In other words, your dog may simply be responding to your tone of voice and body language rather than feeling true guilt.
The American Kennel Club says some common “guilty-looking” dog behaviors include:
• Tucked tails
• Avoiding eye contact
• Flattened ears
• Lip licking
• Cowering posture
• Showing the whites of their eyes
• Nervous yawning
Experts believe these are actually signs of stress or fear rather than genuine guilt.
Still, whatever science says, Chester and Skye absolutely looked like two pups caught red-pawed in the act.
And judging by the internet’s reaction, people can’t get enough of it.
