A herd of alpacas at a Wisconsin farm had a hilariously cautious reaction after being introduced to a new sprinkler designed to help them cool off in the summer heat.
The fluffy animals live at an alpaca farm in River Falls, Wisconsin, where their caretakers recently set up a colorful flower sprinkler for the herd to enjoy.
The idea was simple: give the alpacas a fun way to cool down on a hot day. The animals, however, were not immediately convinced.
A video of the encounter was shared on TikTok and quickly attracted more than 2 million views.
WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW:
The clip begins with a group of alpacas standing in the grass and slowly approaching a nearby patio. A flower-shaped sprinkler can be seen gently spraying water downward as the curious herd moves closer.
Then, without warning, the sprinkler suddenly pops up and begins spraying water in every direction.
The unexpected movement sends the alpacas scrambling backward as they stare at the strange new object from a much safer distance.
While most of the herd appears startled and suspicious, one alpaca named Serendipity remains completely unfazed.
The camera pans over to show her peacefully sleeping in the grass as the commotion unfolds nearby.
“Serendipity completely unbothered,” the text on the video reads.
After the initial scare, a few of the braver alpacas slowly begin moving closer to the sprinkler again.
Some eventually appear to enjoy being sprayed, while the rest of the herd cautiously watches and tries to decide whether the mysterious device is safe.
The farm perfectly described the mixed reaction in the video’s caption.
“They were… cautiously interested,” the caption read. “A few enjoyed getting sprayed, while the rest weren’t quite convinced it was the best invention ever. We’ll call it a work in progress.”
The funny moment showed that even on a hot summer day, convincing a skeptical herd of alpacas to try something new can take a little patience.
