Basset Hounds are famous for their long ears, wrinkly faces, short legs and unmistakable howls.
But every Basset Hound has to discover that voice for the first time.
One adorable puppy named Dolly Mae is cracking up viewers online after her owner captured the moment she began experimenting with her very first howl.
The tiny Basset Hound, who has her own social media account under @dollymae.pawton, is still growing into many of the features that make the breed so recognizable.
For now, she is mostly a bundle of floppy ears, puppy energy and plenty of attitude.
And apparently, she has a lot to say.

In the video, Dolly Mae lets out a series of strange little howls as she tries to figure out exactly what her voice is capable of.
The results are adorable — and a little chaotic.
Viewers immediately started comparing her unusual sounds to everything from cartoon characters to barnyard animals.
Some commenters said Dolly Mae sounded like Yoshi from the Super Mario Bros. games.
Others thought her tiny howls sounded more like a baby owl or even a rooster trying to crow.
One viewer came up with perhaps the funniest comparison.
“She sounds like a car with a weak battery,” the commenter joked. “So cute though.”
Anyone who has raised a vocal puppy knows this may only be the beginning.
Basset Hounds are known for making plenty of noise, especially when they want attention or catch the scent of something interesting.
The breed was originally developed as a hunting dog, and its deep, carrying voice helped hunters keep track of dogs while they followed scent trails.
That famous howl can take some time to fully develop, however.
For puppies like Dolly Mae, the early attempts can sound more like squeaks, hoots and tiny cries before eventually turning into the deep baying sound associated with adult Basset Hounds.
Dolly Mae may not have perfected her howl just yet, but judging by the reactions online, nobody seems to mind.
In fact, her awkward little puppy noises may be even cuter than the real thing.
Her family might want to enjoy them while they can, because before long, Dolly Mae could have the full-volume Basset Hound howl mastered.
