A Golden Retriever named Molly is making people laugh after apparently deciding that getting out of the pool wasn’t enough.
She needed to share the experience.
In a video making the rounds online, Molly climbs out of a backyard swimming pool soaking wet. Instead of immediately shaking herself dry, she calmly walks across the patio toward her dad, who appears to be relaxing with a drink while watching football.
Then Molly makes her move.
She stops right beside him and launches into a full-body shake, sending water flying in every direction — including all over Dad.
Her mom seemed to know exactly what was coming and had the camera rolling for the entire sneak attack.
She jokingly captioned the clip, “Reason #283 why golden retrievers are the best.”

Dad may have had a different opinion after getting an unexpected shower.
A follow-up video reportedly showed just how much water Molly managed to fling around, proving that one soaking-wet Golden Retriever can create a surprisingly impressive mess.
As funny as Molly’s timing was, the actual shake itself is completely natural.
Dogs use their rapid side-to-side body shake to throw water out of their fur quickly. Researchers studying the behavior found that furry mammals can remove a large portion of trapped water in just seconds by generating surprisingly powerful forces with their skin and fur.
Golden Retrievers also have plenty of history around water.
The breed was originally developed as a hunting retriever capable of working both on land and in water, and the American Kennel Club still lists retrievers among breeds naturally suited to swimming.
Of course, none of that explains why Molly apparently waited until she was standing next to Dad before finally drying herself off.
Maybe it was coincidence.
Or maybe Molly knew exactly what she was doing.
Either way, Dad learned an important lesson that plenty of Golden Retriever owners already know well.
Never sit within splash range of a wet dog.
