A rescue cat has gone viral for her wildly dramatic way of demanding attention, and viewers can’t stop laughing at her over-the-top routine.

Cat mom Meg Valenti, 29, shared the hilarious behavior on TikTok under the username @marge. In the now-viral clip, Valenti explains that her cat, Pesto, has a habit of pretending she’s injured whenever her humans are too busy to focus on her.

According to Valenti, the performance happens almost every day. Pesto will suddenly refuse to put weight on one leg and limp around the house, looking pitiful and wounded — until she gets enough attention. Even more impressively, the “injured” leg changes depending on her mood.

“She is the most affectionate animal I have ever met, and the most food motivated,” Valenti explained. “All she wants is attention and treats.”

When the fake limp doesn’t do the trick, Pesto escalates. She’ll climb directly onto her parents or dramatically meow at full volume to make sure she’s impossible to ignore.

Pesto was rescued as a stray, so her exact age isn’t known, but Valenti estimates she’s around 5 years old.

At first, the act worked a little too well. Valenti and her fiancé, Jake Calthorpe, were genuinely alarmed the first time they saw Pesto limping and even asked a veterinarian friend to check her leg. That’s when they realized the truth.

“It led to the discovery of how great an actress Pesto really is,” Valenti said. “Her antics bring us so much joy. As soon as we learned she was not actually injured, it became a funny bit.”

Once Valenti shared the footage online, the internet immediately embraced Pesto’s performance. The TikTok has racked up more than 925,000 views and over 203,000 likes in just days, with hundreds of comments praising the cat’s Oscar-worthy commitment.

“The reaction shocked me,” Valenti said. “Most of my friends have seen this in person, but I was amazed by how many other cat owners also deal with this level of drama.”

The comment section quickly turned into a standing ovation.

“Meowryl Streep over there,” one viewer joked.

“This is frying me. Cats are so manipulative — I love it,” another wrote.

“Acting performance of a generation,” someone else commented.

One user summed it up perfectly: “We just witnessed a miracle.”

Whether she’s limping, climbing, or loudly demanding snacks, Pesto has proven one thing — when it comes to attention-seeking, she’s fully committed to the role.
