A fluffy gray cat is cracking up the internet after making it very clear that snow is absolutely not his thing.
In a now-viral Instagram clip, a cat owner gently places his long-haired kitty outside on a snowy balcony just to see how he’ll react. The answer comes instantly — and dramatically.
The video, shared by the account @cookiethepoekie on Instagram, shows the moment the cat’s paws touch the freezing surface. Without hesitation, the kitty springs backward and bolts straight back indoors, clearly offended by the experience.

“Excuse me sir, I’m an indoor cat,” the caption reads. “Nahhh, not interested.”
The short clip has resonated with fellow cat owners everywhere, quickly racking up more than 160,000 views and nearly 3,500 likes.
While the moment is hilarious, experts say the reaction makes total sense. Most domestic cats aren’t fans of snow because their ancestors evolved in warm, dry climates. Although some cold-weather breeds can tolerate winter conditions thanks to thick, insulating coats, the average house cat would much rather stay cozy and dry.
Even for cats who seem curious about snow, safety is important. Cold temperatures and wet fur can quickly lead to discomfort or even hypothermia if exposure lasts too long. Paw pads can also collect ice, snow, or debris, which may cause irritation or cracking.
If a cat does venture outside in winter weather, they should be brought back in quickly, dried thoroughly, and kept warm. Owners are also advised to make sure cats have clear, safe access back indoors, since snow and ice can block entrances or drive animals to hide in dangerous places like sheds or car engines.
Signs a cat may be too cold include shivering, lethargy, pale gums, and slow movement. Keeping an eye out for these cues can help prevent winter mishaps.
Viewers couldn’t get enough of this particular kitty’s swift retreat. One commenter joked, “Windowsill views please, not snow expeditions.” Another wrote, “That is one of the fluffiest cats that’s ever fluffed.” A third added, “No one likes being put on snow butt naked anyway.”
