A week-old kitten who had been abandoned on the side of a highway during a heavy rainstorm was brought to safety—and that’s when a Border Collie stepped in in the most unexpected way.
The moment the dog saw the tiny kitten, her instincts seemed to kick in. She stayed close, watching over her and quickly taking on a protective role.
When they began interacting, the Border Collie was incredibly gentle. She would carefully roll the kitten over with her paws while playing, making sure not to hurt her. Every movement was slow and controlled, showing just how careful she was being.
The two quickly became inseparable. They would nap together, with the kitten sometimes resting her tiny paws on the dog’s nose. When the kitten slept in her crate, the Border Collie would lie just outside, keeping watch the entire time.
She also helped keep the kitten clean, gently licking her as part of her routine.
