There are working dogs, and then there is Layla.

The beloved baseball bat dog has officially hung up her duties, and her final trip onto the field is melting hearts across TikTok.

In an adorable video shared by DraftKings, Layla is seen retrieving the last bat of her career. The sweet pup, who served as a bat dog for the Clearwater Thrashers, took her final walk with the kind of quiet dignity only a good old dog can pull off.

“The goodest girl (and bat dog) in all of baseball,” the caption read, giving Layla the send-off she clearly deserved.

And judging by the reaction online, fans were not ready.

The clip shows Layla slowly making her way across the field to do the job she has done so many times before. But this time was different. This was her retirement moment.

Viewers immediately picked up on the emotion of it all.

“She knew it was her last time, she was enjoying the moment,” one person wrote.

Another joked that Layla seemed to be fully embracing retirement already, writing, “Don’t rush me hooman, I’m retired… I will go as fast as I want.”

Others simply wished the four-legged fan favorite a happy retirement.

“Enjoy your retirement, Layla,” one commenter wrote.

DraftKings had the perfect response, adding, “Hopefully lots of milk bones in her future.”

Honestly, she earned every single one.

Layla may be done picking up bats, but she clearly left the field as a legend.
