Cactus the rescue dog knows exactly what it feels like to need a safe place to land, and now he’s helping a new foster puppy feel right at home.
The mixed-breed pup had a rough start himself after being rescued from a difficult situation. But instead of being overwhelmed by the newest arrivals in his house, Cactus seems determined to make them feel welcome.
His newest foster brother, a puppy named Cowboy, arrived with his mother and five siblings after they were rescued from their own tough circumstances.
That means there are now eight dogs under one roof.
To keep things calm, Cactus’ family has been giving the new dogs time to decompress and letting them meet Cactus one at a time.
When it was Cowboy’s turn, Cactus decided to introduce him to something very important — his favorite movie.
The two dogs curled up together in front of the TV to watch Shrek, and the sweet moment quickly melted hearts online.
Cowboy may not have known what a movie was, but Cactus appeared more than happy to show him the ropes.
The pair looked completely comfortable together as they watched the animated classic side by side.

Viewers loved how naturally Cactus took to his new foster sibling.
“The way Cactus has taken to having other dogs in the house is amazing. He really is such a kind and good boy,” one person commented.
Another added, “The two of them laying together like that melted my heart and made me smile.”
One viewer joked, “Another Shrek fan is born. Thanks, Cactus!”
For a rescue dog who once needed help himself, Cactus now seems perfectly happy passing that same kindness along.
And if Cowboy ends up becoming a lifelong Shrek fan in the process, that may just be a bonus.
