Toffee may only be 6 months old, but this sweet shelter puppy has already been through a lot — and now she’s finally getting the happy ending she deserves.
The young Pit Bull was surrendered to Chicago Animal Care and Control over the summer. When rescuers with Tails Together in Evanston, Illinois, saw her, they decided to transfer her to their rescue and help find her a permanent home.
When Toffee first arrived, she was so shy and overwhelmed that she had to be carried.
But it didn’t take long for her personality to start shining through.
Before long, Toffee was wagging her tail so hard that people around her could actually hear it.
The affectionate puppy quickly showed rescuers just how sweet, smart and well-mannered she already is.
From her little grumbles to the sound of her happily crunching treats, Toffee has been winning over everyone she meets.
One local worker even recognized her from a visit near the rescue.
“I work for Orangetheory around the corner,” the person commented. “She stopped by for a treat the other day! She’s so gentle and friendly and perfect and deserves the world.”

Other viewers were just as smitten.
“OMG, I want her!” one person wrote, adding that they were sure Toffee already had plenty of adoption applications.
That prediction appears to have been right.
Just four days after Tails Together shared Toffee’s video on Aug. 31, her adoption was already pending.
It’s a remarkable turnaround for a puppy who was once too nervous to even walk into the rescue on her own.
Now Toffee is wagging her tail, making new friends and getting ready to start the next chapter of her life with a forever family.
