A curious Vermont cat found herself in a little more trouble than she bargained for after sneaking onto the roof of her home.
The adventurous feline apparently slipped out through an open skylight overnight and ended up stranded near the roofline, prompting a rescue from local volunteer firefighters.
The Berlin Volunteer Fire Department shared photos from the Sept. 2 call, showing the cat perched high above the ground.
“Earlier today Truck 9 was called out for a cat stuck on a roof,” the department wrote on Facebook. “The owner believes she snuck out overnight through an open skylight.”
Firefighters were able to reach the cat and safely bring her back down.
The department said the feline “happily returned to the indoors” after her unexpected rooftop adventure.
Thankfully, the cat appeared to be just fine after the rescue.
The incident is another reminder that firefighters do a lot more than battle flames — sometimes the emergency really is a cat stuck somewhere it absolutely should not be.
And this Vermont kitty is hardly the only animal to cause chaos lately.
In Arkansas, three raccoons recently broke into a family-owned restaurant and spent hours tearing through the place overnight.
The animals reportedly dropped in from the ceiling, swung from light fixtures and knocked glasses and plates to the floor before finally leaving.
The damage was bad enough to force the restaurant to temporarily close over Labor Day weekend.
Compared to that wild mess, the Vermont cat’s adventure ended much more peacefully.
After one night on the roof, she was safely back inside where her owners probably hope she’ll stay — and where that skylight may be getting a much closer look from now on.
