A stubborn golden retriever in Arizona has gone viral after making one thing crystal clear: he will not go on a walk unless his favorite human is holding the leash.
The dog, a 4-year-old golden retriever named Levi, captured millions of hearts on TikTok after a short clip of his dramatic protest was shared on December 21 by his owner, Natalia Klopotowski. The video has since racked up more than 9.7 million views and counting.
In the now-viral clip, Levi is seen sitting firmly on the floor of the apartment hallway, completely refusing to move as Klopotowski’s boyfriend tries to take him outside. Despite gentle tugs on the leash, Levi stays planted in place, forcing himself to be slowly dragged a short distance — paws stiff, body unmoved, dignity intact.

The on-screen caption explained it all: “When mom isn’t the one to take you outside… [Don’t worry] I took him right after.”
Klopotowski, 26, later told Newsweek that Levi’s refusal had nothing to do with disliking walks — and everything to do with who was doing the walking.
“He is resisting going outside with my boyfriend because if I am home, he prefers me,” she said. “I’m definitely his favorite human.”
She added that she never expected the moment to blow up online, but was thrilled by how much joy it brought people.
“Reading all of the comments has made me laugh in return,” she said.
The post has since pulled in more than 2.6 million likes and thousands of comments, with viewers relating to Levi’s unapologetic attitude and strong sense of loyalty. Some joked that he was standing his ground, while others pointed out that dogs always seem to pull stunts like this at the worst possible time.
“Imagine being overstimulated and your dog does this,” one viewer commented.

A handful of viewers expressed concern about Levi being gently dragged across the carpet, prompting Klopotowski to reassure everyone that he was never hurt.
“Lots of comments are concerned about carpet burn,” she said. “But I promise he did not get carpet burn.”
Golden retrievers are known for their affectionate, expressive personalities, and Levi appears to embody the breed’s charm — along with a healthy dose of stubbornness. According to his owner, he’s simply not shy about making his preferences known.
